DJ Mega Man
It all started in 1994 for DJ Mega Man – hanging out at his next door neighbor’s house parties. It was the first time he was introduced to deejaying, and immediately was obsessed. In 8th grade Mega Man’s teacher asked him if he wanted to dj during lunch. He did, it was a hit and he was hooked. Soon after, Mega learned about DJ Battles, manipulating turntables and using them as an instrument. In 1996 he entered a turntable battle with DJ P-Trix (National DMC Champion), DJ Kilmore (Incubus), DJ Wicked and a few others. This would lay the groundwork for Mega’s unparalleled scratching skills. One bright sunny day, Mega Man was walking through a Ventura Mall and a local Radio MC asked him to do a guest spot on his late night dance-music show. At that time he was dj’ing a lot of raves and playing a lot of house music so this was the perfect natural progression. This spot on KCAQ-104.7fm led him to entering another dj battle, again against DJ Wicked. The winner of this battle was fighting for a slot on the Saturday night mix-show. In the end, It ended up getting Megaman a spot in the show. The payoff from this battle propelled him into where he is today. In 2001, Mega Man got a call from DJ Icy Ice (Beatjunkies) who called to say that MixMasterMike (Beastie Boys, Invisible Skratch Piklz) was using Mega’s 2nd Scratch Record in his show routines (can be seen on the Scratch documentary as well A YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XW2e1kGyKcw ). A true career milestone, that Invisible Skratch Picklz were using his original tracks. As of late, Mega Man has had #1 download remixes on 3 top beat-sharing sites, and has been relentlessly doing live sets in Las Vegas and traveling to his second favorite city: Miami. His plans are to continue to make great number 1 downloaded remixes. Finish up the album he’s working on to be released under the name MAYEDA.
